A Dyce teenager has become the Scottish champion of drug free bodybuilding.

Kirk Robertson strong-armed the British natural bodybuilding federation (BNBF) teen title in Perth on the 12th June after taking up the sport during his free periods at school.

The 18-year-old from Dyce said:

“This was actually my first competition, so to get the National title was really overwhelming and emotional.

“I got into bodybuilding during my free periods at school as a way to kill time – eventually I had so much of a drive for it I started going to the gym instead of classes.

“It’s just been a snowball effect since then.”

Kirk won the teens– under 20 class and now automatically gets an invite to the British finals where the British champion is crowned and invited to the world finals in Miami.

BNBF judge Lawrence King said: “When Kirk was first on stage he seemed a little flat, but as he went through the quarter turns and mandatory poses he started to fill out and his condition got better.

“He brought a good balance of muscle and condition to the stage which proved too much for the other competitors.”

Kirk is now in-training for the British finals, is aiming for a top 5 place. He says a strict regime is vital:

“I train around 6 days a week for about an hour and a half each session – with cardio twice a day on top of that.

“I try and stick to foods that are dense in vitamins like fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds and chicken and tuna.”

“I have been training for about three years so to feel the accumulation of all the effort and sacrifice over the years in one day was amazing.”

Kirk is available for personal training sessions – contact him on kirkrobertsonpt@gmail.com for more information.

The BNBF British final is at Perth Concert Hall – 25 September.
