I’m a sucker for a scallop, so I knew straight away what I’d be starting with at the newly refurbished Dunavaon Hotel‘s Bryson’s gastro pub. An ample portion of three scallops arrived, accompanied with Stornoway black pudding, crispy bacon, salad and green apple puree, cooked to perfection and delicious.
My dining partner opted for main course only, and chose something from the ciabatta lunch menu. She chose the home-made fries to accompany the bacon, brie and cranberry creation, but soup or salad were also possibilities. I had to have a small taste of the fries, just to check that they were infact home-made of course, they were very tasty indeed.
I chose from one of the vegetarian options on the main menu, a sweet potato, spinach and chickpea Thai red curry with basmati rice. Very mild and creamy, with fabulous flavours coming through and the odd pepper thrown in for good measure.
Sadly, we didn’t have time to stay for dessert or coffee, so I’ll have to go back another time to try the poached pear belle helene!
cost :£35 for the two of us, including two glasses of Pinot Grigio.
